A typical day at Ikea would be working inside of the restaurant handling all transactions.

Even though I enjoyed working there, there was entirely too many workers and not enough hours. The pay wasn't good enough for me to stick around and wait for more hours seeing as I was already a Seasonal employee.

A great to company to work with. However, the management at a few branch offices is completely inapt.
I learnt a lot of professional values which can easily be transformed into your personal growth too.

Responsible for solving disagreements in the environment of high pressure.
Take participation in the opening of new store outlets.
Responsible for helping in public relations, register control and food service.
Done various other duties as assigned.

Typical crazy retail environment in a great value based organization.

A good work environment.
Friendly and educated workers.
Flexible timings.
Compensation could be a lot better.

I manage the cash lanes and returns also reconcile the float bags.
I have learned a lot about the electronic reconciliation process as well as managing the returns dept as far as what to look for and what to return.
All of the job was enjoyable to ,e I loved working with my co-workers as well as my management team.

Store Manager played favorits and it was very obious who she liked and who she did not. she and other managers spent more time "working from home" then in the store. sales co workers were allowed to stand around and ignore customers, spending thier time playing on the computer including looking at piictures. the manager would come in late for meetings, – more...  other managers would forget meeting or just not show up. – less

I love this job it is a very friendly and orientated environment, everyone in management positions are intrigued and involved at all times

Management will tell you anything to get you into the door, because the turnover rate is so high. They will tell you that you will get an early morning shift and then after training it's another story that you have to work at night. They don't care about you, just about making numbers to keep corporate off their behinds. The call volume is at least – more...  50+ calls in the queue at a time. The customers are constantly moaning and complaining in your ear. They are totally disrespectful. You can't do anything much to help the customer, except make a case and somebody will call them back in 48 hours. You have to apologize for everything, even if it's the customer's fault. The supervisors are sneaky and will stab you in the back. The company is great to work for in general, but the position sucks for starting at $11 an hour. People call out every weekend, because it's so hard to get a weekend day off. Who wants to be stuck somewhere, getting cursed out nonstop all day? – less

IKEA IS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK IF YOU ARE A SELF STARTER AND SELF MOTIVATED. YOU MUST ALSO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH LITTLE TO NO DIRECTION AND SUPERVISION.

A typical day at work for me is basically dealing with all the customers and making sure they leave out happy. I handle the money and transactions making sure I scan evey box and small item they have. Ive learned that i have to stay calm always smiling and friendly when working with the customers. I love all of my co workers and I got along with them well when ever you are in need of help they are always there. Thy harder part is just picking up and moving the heavy boxes. The returns dept is a heavy stress environment. The perks include the co-workers. I have the privilege of working with a diverse group of people. They each add to my experience. Yes there's conflict. Yes there are trials. I am fortunate in that my part time job is just that - a part time job. I learn as much as possible. I work as hard as I can. This – more...  is my ethic. Ikea was a fun place to work for me. I started out as a cashier and then moved back into the recovery department where I built display items and built items we sold in the As-Is section of the store. We got 15 percent off of merchandise that we bought which was great.
